The article is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Alexei Alekseevich Zavarzin (1925-1993), a famous Soviet / Russian evolutionary histologist. Brief information on the biography of A.A. Azavarzin is given. His contribution to the development of evolutionary cytology and histology is emphasized. The role of A.A. Zavarzin in changing the concept of teaching cytology and histology at biological faculties of Universities and Pedagogical Institutes of the country, and the creation of an educational and scientific base on the White Sea is particularly noted. The list of A.A. Zavarzin's main works is given.

Статья посвящена 100-летию со дня рождения профессора Алексея Алексеевича Заварзина (1925-1993 гг) известного Советского/Российского гистолога-эволюциониста. Приведены краткие данные по биографии А.А Заварзина. Подчеркивается его вклад в развитие эволюционной цитологии и гистологии. Особо отмечается роль А.А. Заварзина в изменении концепции преподавания цитологии и гистологии на биологических факультетах Университетов и Педагогических Институтов страны, создании учебно-научной базы на Белом море. Приведен список основных работ А.А. Заварзина.
