Статья является обзором опубликованных материалов об Александре Станиславовиче Догеле - выдающемся русском гистологе, основателе журнала «Морфология» («Русский архив анатомии, гистологии и эмбриологии»). Приводятся биографические данные об А.С.Догеля, обсуждаются его вклад в различные разделы нейрогистологии и в гистологическую технику, его своеобразные теоретические воззрения и поздние цитологические работы. Особое внимание уделено научно-просветительской деятельности А.С.Догеля и его роли в организации старейшего в современной России морфологического журнала. Помимо указаний на важнейшие публикации по всем перечисленным вопросам, в статье впервые приведена полная и выверенная по первоисточникам библиография опубликованных работ А.С.Догеля.
