Abstract
The article analyzes the contribution of Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Nozdrin (1947-2024) to the development of Russian histology. He was born on January 27, 1947 in the village of Olovyannikovo (now the village of Kalinino, Stanovo-Kolodezskoye rural settlement) in the Oryol district of the Oryol region. After graduating from the Orel Medical School (1965), he entered the I. M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical Institute, from which he graduated in 1971. After graduation, he worked at universities and research institutes in Moscow. He created the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology at the Medical Institute of Orel University, and from 1999 to 2020 he was the head of this department, under his leadership the department became one of the best departments of histology. From 1991 to 2016, he headed the pharmaceutical company Retinoids CJSC, which he founded, which was a multiple winner in the "Leader of the Russian Economy" nomination. His main scientific research is devoted to the issues of histophysiology of the skin. He investigated the issues of embryonic and postnatal morphogenesis of skin structures and its derivatives, and established patterns of age-related transformations of the skin and its derivatives. He successfully developed the questions. adaptive and reactive transformations of skin structural elements under the influence of various pharmaceutical preparations on the skin, questions of the biological properties of retinoids, questions of the role and significance of retinoids in the body, the role of retinoids in optimizing reparative histogenesis in the skin. V.I. Nozdrin paid much attention to the teaching of histology. He (in co-authorship) has prepared a number of textbooks on histology, cytology and embryology, which were highly appreciated by students and teachers. He successfully dealt with the issues of preserving the historical memory of prominent Russian and Soviet histologists (A.I. Babukhin, V.G. Eliseev, Yu.I. Afanasyev). Of particular note are the activities of V.I.Nozdrin in organizing scientific conferences: the 1st - 10th Babukhin Readings in Orel (2002-2017), the VIII Congress of the International Association of Morphologists (2006) and a number of others. Thus, the activity of V.I. Nozdrin contributed to the progress of tissue biology, cell biology and embryology.
